Working within the fashion and retail industry as a Pattern Grader you will provide accurate fit and grade sample garments that can follow through to bulk production of the garment within the fashion/retail company.
The job of a Grader sits within the pattern room of the fashion company and the Grader is part of the technical team working closely with the pattern cutters.
Main duties of a Grader working in fashion include: pattern grading, costing of garments, liaising with overseas factories and liaising with Fashion Designers/Pattern Cutters/Sample Machinists working within the fashion/retail company.
Pattern Graders will often use a CAD system such as Lectra, Gerber, Veti-graph or Investronica.
To get a job as a Pattern Grader you will need to be from a technical fashion background with manual or CAD grading experience. This role can progress into a job in Pattern Cutting within a fashion or retail company.
