Careers in Ecommerce

Ecommerce is one of the fastest-moving areas of fashion and retail — turning a retailer's website and digital channels into successful commercial businesses. It's a varied, constantly evolving career combining commercial awareness, creativity, technology and data.

Ecommerce Job Description

Ecommerce professionals are responsible for managing and growing a retailer’s online presence and digital sales channels. Depending on the organisation, this can include managing website content and product information, analysing online performance, planning promotions and ensuring customers have a seamless digital shopping experience.

The role combines commercial and creative thinking with data and technology. Ecommerce teams work closely with buying, merchandising, marketing, creative, IT and customer service teams to ensure products are presented effectively and the website delivers strong sales and customer engagement.

In larger organisations, ecommerce teams may specialise in areas such as trading, digital merchandising, content, CRM, marketplaces or ecommerce operations. In smaller businesses, an ecommerce professional may have responsibility for a much broader range of activities.
