The job role of a Merchandising Director of a fashion retail brand not only will you be part of the Senior Management team but you will also be accountable to the Board of Directors. The Merchandising Director will not manage the day to day running of the retail Merchandising Teams but will be responsible for relaying the direction of the fashion brand to the Merchandising Managers and Senior Merchandisers.
The Merchandising Director is a pivotal role within a structured fashion retail Merchandising Team. The Retail Merchandising Director will be responsible for streamlining the organisational and merchandising strategies across all fashion and/or retail product areas. Depending on the diversity and size of the retail organisation, these product areas could include fashion areas such as womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, footwear, accessories and even non fashion ie homeware.
The Merchandising Director will ensure that the retail brand is delivering financially viable, cohesive and commercial ranges throughout all channels within the retail business. This will involve working closely with the Buying Director, the Finance Director, Retail Director and other senior members to ensure that essentially the fashion offering in retail stores deliver on profit.
